Fire safety tips - aipl

🏠 At Home

  • Turn off gas stoves and cylinders after cooking or before sleeping.
  • Never overload electrical sockets or use damaged wires.
  • Keep flammable materials (curtains, papers, etc.) away from heat sources.
  • Do not leave candles or incense sticks unattended.
  • Teach family members how to use a fire extinguisher and emergency exit routes.
  • Store LPG cylinders safely in a ventilated area.

🏢 At Workplace / Office

  • Know your fire exits — never block them.
  • Keep fire extinguishers accessible and ensure they’re serviced regularly.
  • Avoid smoking in restricted or flammable zones.
  • Report faulty wiring or burning smells immediately.
  • Participate in fire drills and safety training sessions.
  • Ensure all electrical equipment is turned off before leaving.

🍳 In Kitchen

  • Never leave cooking unattended.
  • Keep a fire blanket or extinguisher nearby.
  • Do not pour water on oil fires — cover it with a lid or use sand.
  • Clean kitchen hoods and chimneys to prevent grease build-up.

⛽ For Gas Stations / Industrial Areas

  • Ground all fuel tanks and nozzles to prevent static discharge.
  • No smoking or open flames in fuel handling zones.
  • Check fire hydrant and sprinkler systems regularly.
  • Train staff for emergency shutdown procedures.
  • Display safety signage and keep escape routes clear.

🚨 In Case of Fires

  • Stay calm — don’t panic.
  • Use the nearest safe exit — never use elevators.
  • Alert others and call the fire department (Dial 101).
  • If trapped, cover your nose and mouth with a wet cloth.
  • Stop, Drop, and Roll if your clothes catch fire.

💡 Remember

“Fire safety starts with awareness — prevention is always better than cure.”
